[ although daisuke's reassurance is welcoming and naegi wouldn't turn it down, it doesn't improve his mood that much. it's true what daisuke said, how words won't fix a situation that easily, and naegi believe that works both ways. daisuke's own words don't do that much to ease his guilt and although he apologized, naegi sure doesn't feel any better. he can apologize all he wants to daisuke and daisuke can forgive him but that doesn't necessarily mean that naegi forgives himself. ]

I... I'll go and buy some ice packs.

[ they might have a frozen pack of peas in the fridge but naegi wants to get him something better than that. maybe this is also an excuse to get out of the apartment right now? ]

[ he's glad that daisuke doesn't try to fight him on leaving but as he glances up for a split second and catches sight of the smile, his chest gets tighter and it aches. then with some hesitance, naegi tries to force on a smile as well but even with all the new things he's learned from this new au, such as being able to conceal his emotions better, the fakeness of his smile is blatantly apparent. his jaw is stiff and his eyebrows are furrowed but he holds onto the smile for a bit before he starts to head for the front door. ]
