[ when you're in a dream, you never truly question the things around you. it's like you have a bigger suspension of disbelief and only realize that things have been really strange after you wake up. so when naegi find himself in this strange puzzle room with someone he doesn't really know, he doesn't question it. instead, he focuses on the items that he could examine. ]
Hm... don't these kinds of rooms require you to do something elaborate before you can escape?
[ that's how escape rooms are, right? rather than trying to pick the lock on the door, you have to hit some specific keys on a piano, put an anatomical model back together, and solve an upside down sudoku puzzle before you can then escape. it's never as easy as finding a key... ]
The operating table looks pretty suspicious... maybe we should look at that first.
[ unfortunately for naegi, this is nothing new for him... it's another trial, another murder, and his heart still pounds so loudly that it rings in his ears. his throat is parched and he does his best to participate in the trial, trying to point out contradictions and loose ends. ]
... I agree with Tatsuma. I think we should examine the crane some m--
[ and it's at this point, one of their faceless interrupts ]
"Who cares? It's just a paper crane. We already know who did it! They probably just dropped it while trying to make their escape."
[ splitting up and looking for clues should speed things up. although naegi has no idea what he's searching for, he just examines everything that he can get his hands on. he goes through pages, opens up drawers, looks up and down the walls, but unfortunately, he comes up empty-handed. hmm, is he missing something? ]
[Some looking around and he comes across the laminated sheet, eyes skimming over the instructions with a frown. He'll wave it at Naegi when asked, the plastic making a strange wobbling sound.]
...This is probably it.
[On the top are large, bold letters: INSTRUCTIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL OPERATION!
Somehow, the cheerfulness makes it even creepier.]
[ naegi walks on over, trying to take a closer look at the sheet that theo waves. he immediately gets a horrible unsettling feeling when he reads the title. ]
... what do you think?
[ naegi has his reservations but if this really seems like the only way out then maybe... ]
[ when tatsuma admits that he doesn't know, there seems to be a collective groan among the students. some of them feel like it's a useless piece of evidence while others are firm in their belief that their faceless classmate was the murderer. however, naegi nods in agreement with tatsuma ]
Let's go over the evidence and everyone's alibi one more time. We might have missed something.
[ naegi doesn't think it hurts to go over everything more carefully. their lives depend on this, right? plus, it's been bothering him as well. they shouldn't rush over this ]
[ whoops, that was totally not naegi's intention but he could see how asking something like that could make it more worrisome. um, maybe they should just move through this asap ]
[And he'll just... jump onto the table, removing his shirt and generally looking about as uncomfortable as one might expect from having to do a pretend operation. Luckily, all the marks are on the upper body, so no depantsing necessary.
The light above turning on once he's laying on the table is super not appreciated though. It's extremely bright and also extremely unnerving.]
[ as theo gets onto the table, naegi goes over to pick up the laminated instruction sheet that was found earlier. he takes a glance over it to make sure that he knows what to do and he then goes over to find a marker that he could use ]
... it's probably to make sure that you don't leave.
[ leave mid-"operation" which makes it a lot more creepy. ]
I'm going to start now, okay?
[ just going to give theo a head's up before naegi starts drawing all over his body like some weirdo ]
[He shuts his eyes, but he can still see the light through his lids, it's so bright.]
Go for it.
[The directions are simple enough. A circle around the right eye, a circle around the heart, and a slash over the left kidney. He knows where the kidney is, right?]
