[ splitting up and looking for clues should speed things up. although naegi has no idea what he's searching for, he just examines everything that he can get his hands on. he goes through pages, opens up drawers, looks up and down the walls, but unfortunately, he comes up empty-handed. hmm, is he missing something? ]
[Some looking around and he comes across the laminated sheet, eyes skimming over the instructions with a frown. He'll wave it at Naegi when asked, the plastic making a strange wobbling sound.]
...This is probably it.
[On the top are large, bold letters: INSTRUCTIONS FOR A SUCCESSFUL OPERATION!
Somehow, the cheerfulness makes it even creepier.]
[ naegi walks on over, trying to take a closer look at the sheet that theo waves. he immediately gets a horrible unsettling feeling when he reads the title. ]
... what do you think?
[ naegi has his reservations but if this really seems like the only way out then maybe... ]
[ whoops, that was totally not naegi's intention but he could see how asking something like that could make it more worrisome. um, maybe they should just move through this asap ]
[And he'll just... jump onto the table, removing his shirt and generally looking about as uncomfortable as one might expect from having to do a pretend operation. Luckily, all the marks are on the upper body, so no depantsing necessary.
The light above turning on once he's laying on the table is super not appreciated though. It's extremely bright and also extremely unnerving.]
[ as theo gets onto the table, naegi goes over to pick up the laminated instruction sheet that was found earlier. he takes a glance over it to make sure that he knows what to do and he then goes over to find a marker that he could use ]
... it's probably to make sure that you don't leave.
[ leave mid-"operation" which makes it a lot more creepy. ]
I'm going to start now, okay?
[ just going to give theo a head's up before naegi starts drawing all over his body like some weirdo ]
[He shuts his eyes, but he can still see the light through his lids, it's so bright.]
Go for it.
[The directions are simple enough. A circle around the right eye, a circle around the heart, and a slash over the left kidney. He knows where the kidney is, right?]
[ okay, the eye and heart should be easy enough. he goes ahead and circles those as gently as he can, without pressing down too hard on theo's skin. however, that last one is, uh... ]
Um, the left kidney is... here?
[ since theo's eyes are closed, he can see naegi's marker hovering over a spot somewhat... in the area... of the kidney?? he honestly has no idea. he never took an anatomy class before ]
[Cracking an eye open, briefly. It probably looks somewhat comical what with the marker.]
You don't know? It's around here.
[Finally, acting in a hospital drama has bequeathed him useful knowledge. He traces a circle around the kidney with a finger before shutting his eye again.]
[ thank god that at least theo knows or else naegi would have circled some random spot instead. now with theo's help, naegi circles the last part and he pulls back, putting the cap back on the marker. ]
[ naegi looks at the direction of the new light and he immediately feels a chill run down his spine. he doesn't answer theo's question right away as he stares at the scalpel but he eventually finds his voice ]
[ and just as immediately as the clasps closen over theo's arms, the large tv screen in the room lights up. on it is a... mouse with a gas mask? what a very specific and strange detail. ]
"Hey there, you miserable test subjects! I see that you're going along with the surgery, that's great! You know, I worked really hard on that so I'm excited to see it in action! Whew, okay! So, it's really easy. The test subject with the dumb hair just needs to take the scalpel and cut along the lines that he drew on the test subject who willingly agreed to this. Don't worry, it's really easy. I could do this with my eyes closed!"
[ definitely-not-calhoun just tilts his head and lets out a loud whine ]
"Huhhhhhhh? Where on Earth did you get that idea, test subject who willingly agreed to this? Not once did I say anything about you guys leaving this alive! It's not my fault you guys assumed the best in the worst situation ever!"
[ while definitely-not-calhoun goes off on his rambling, naegi moves over to put his hands on the clasps ]
L-Let me get these off you-- ow!
[ and not a second after naegi touched the clasps, a strong shock of electricity runs through them, hurting both naegi and theo ]
"Hey, test subject with the dumb hair! Hands off! Just get to operating already! I don't have all day and I certainly don't get paid enough to put up with waiting!"
[There's a yelp of pain at the electricity as it jolts through his body, and he lays back, trying to keep his breathing under control even as a burning sensation sears his wrists.]

Theo looks Fairly Unsure about all of this, but he does move to check out the operating table.]
Looks like you can strap someone in, yeah. What worries me is what kind of operation needs to make sure the patient can't move.
no subject
... do you think that we'd have to use it?
[ is that the gimmick of this room? ]
no subject
[Scratching at the back of his head...]
...But let's check out the rest of the room before we commit to it.

[Honest answer, he hates it, but also:]
It won't kill whoever's on the table. It's like some kind of sick joke.
[A lot of marking "parts" for removal, but nothing about actually taking them, thankfully. He scratches at his cheek.]
All you need to do is grab a sharpie and mark 'em off. Should be quick and easy.
[But is he up for it?]
no subject
... we can mark it on me if you want.
[ if theo doesn't want to do it then naegi is willing to take that risk for them both ]
no subject
It's fine. It's just a little marker.
Don't mind me taking a snooze while you figure out what to mark.
no subject
[ this is something that naegi has to ask because yeah, they're just drawing on one of their bodies for now but who knows what's after that. ]
no subject
[Let him have a snooze instead of having to worry about potentially being asked to eviscerate someone else, please.]
no subject
[ whoops, that was totally not naegi's intention but he could see how asking something like that could make it more worrisome. um, maybe they should just move through this asap ]
I'll try to do this as quickly as possible.

...Some kind of weight mechanism?
[That's what he's assuming, anyway. Creepy.]

Okay... now what?
no subject
Next to it is a note:
Begin the operation.
Not that Theo can see from where he's laying.]
...What was that click?
[He can, at least, tell that it sounded ominous as hell.]
no subject
I... I think they actually want me to...
[ he swallows ]
... cut you open.
no subject
He's actually about to sit up when the clasps click over his arms, no doubt intended to force him to stay put for the operation.]
Fuck-- seriously?!
no subject

Theo's also definitely straining against those clasps as definitely-not-Calhoun talks.]
I thought we were supposed to be able to get out of here alive!
[There's no way they can pull off an actual operation of the sort.]
no subject
"Huhhhhhhh? Where on Earth did you get that idea, test subject who willingly agreed to this? Not once did I say anything about you guys leaving this alive! It's not my fault you guys assumed the best in the worst situation ever!"
